In the late morning of a summer day in LaPlace, Louisiana, a discovery was made that would forever alter the lives of many. On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, deputies were called to the 1500 block of Natchez Lane in the Belle Pointe subdivision around 10:30 a.m. There, they found 41-year-old Trevor Sanders, an African American male, lying unresponsive on the ground.
It was soon determined that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and tragically, was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner's office. The shooting occurred just one street away from Sanders' own residence.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the death of Trevor Sanders, who was affectionately known as 'Teezy Wee'. In the initial stages of the investigation, Sheriff Mike Tregre stated that no arrests had been made and that it was unclear how many shots had been fired or if there was more than one shooter. The motive for the shooting was also unknown at the time.
As the investigation has continued, no arrests have been announced in connection with the murder of Trevor Sanders. To encourage anyone with information to come forward, a reward has been offered for tips that lead to an arrest. The initial reward of $7,000 was later increased to $10,000. Detectives have urged the public to provide any information they might have regarding the person or persons responsible for this fatal shooting. The case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
