In the early morning hours of Thursday, February 23, 2012, the quiet of a LaPlace neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunshots and a barking dog. It wasn't until around 6:14 a.m. that the violence of that morning came to light. Responding to a report of a man shot, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at a residence in the 500 block of Willow Street.
Inside the home, a tragic scene awaited.
The brother of 23-year-old Devon 'Dee Dee' Toby Anderson had entered the residence to find his sibling unresponsive on the floor. Deputies confirmed the young man had sustained wounds that appeared to be from gunshots and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy later confirmed that Devon Anderson's death was a homicide caused by gunshot wounds.
Investigators learned that neighbors had heard gunshots approximately an hour before deputies were called to the scene. Despite actively pursuing all leads in the case, no arrests have been made in the shooting death of Devon Anderson. His case remains an open investigation, with a reward offered for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
