On the evening of June 4, 2018, a visit to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, turned tragic for 33-year-old Sirrory Young, a man from Alabama. At approximately 10:36 p.m., on North Donmoor Avenue, Young was involved in a struggle with an individual attempting to rob him. During the confrontation, he was shot multiple times. Emergency services transported him to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Despite medical efforts, Sirrory Young succumbed to his gunshot injuries three days later, on June 7, 2018.
The investigation into the fatal shooting led Baton Rouge Police to identify two suspects. In the week following the incident, authorities arrested 33-year-old Sedrick Lewis. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with Young's death. The search for a second individual involved in the crime continued for several weeks.
In August of the same year, the second suspect, 30-year-old Shatner Lewis, was apprehended by police. At the time of this second arrest, Shatner Lewis was already incarcerated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on an unrelated charge. He also faced charges of armed robbery and first-degree murder for his alleged involvement in the deadly mugging of Sirrory Young.
