Jeremiah George Lee, a 28-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on Saturday, July 28, 2018, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Known to some as 'Zippa,' he was a father of three children. The late-night shooting was believed by authorities to be gang-related, with investigators
identifying Lee as the primary target of the attack. Two gunmen, one reportedly armed with an assault rifle and the other with two handguns, are thought to have opened fire indiscriminately into a crowd of people. The hail of bullets resulted in the tragic deaths of Lee, 38-year-old Kurshaw Jackson, and 27-year-old Taiesha Watkins.
For years, the case remained a high priority for the New Orleans Police Department. Investigators identified 'prime suspects' but faced challenges in gathering enough evidence to proceed with arrests.
