Deshawn Butler, a 25-year-old African American male, was fatally shot along with his 7-month-old son, Deshawn Kinard, on November 14, 2013, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident occurred near the Crescent City Connection bridge, a major Mississippi River crossing in New Orleans. Butler and his son were back-seat passengers in a car driven by Amy Kinard, Butler's girlfriend and the mother of their child.
