In the late summer of 2018, the life of 18-year-old Delvantae Leon Bell was tragically cut short in Shreveport, Louisiana. An African American male, Delvantae, known affectionately as 'Vantae,' was a senior at Woodlawn High Leadership Academy. He was described by those who knew him as a sweet, intelligent, and compassionate young man.
On the morning of August 30, 2018, the Shreveport Police Department responded to a call about a shooting in the Cedar Grove neighborhood.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Delvantae lying in the street, having sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. He was quickly transported to University Health Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. To determine the precise cause of death, an autopsy was authorized.
Born on April 21, 2000, to Reginald Tyrone Kemp and Carla Bell, Delvantae was on the cusp of adulthood. His sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through his family and the wider community. He is survived by his father, a brother, and two sisters, as well as extended family members who continue to mourn his loss.
