Quindovius Tramell Key, 18, a Black male, was killed in Shreveport, Louisiana, on March 13, 2021, in a burst of late-afternoon violence that unfolded on Clanton Street in the city’s Caddo Heights neighborhood. Just after 5:00 p.m., police were called to the 1400 block of Clanton Street, where the scene they arrived to suggested the confrontation had moved fast and ended faster—an exchange of gunfire that left two men mortally wounded.
Investigators said the early picture of what happened pointed to an altercation between Key and another man, Chad Errol Hill Jr., that escalated until both men fired at each other. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene, while Key was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health, where he died in the emergency room at 5:39 p.m. That timeline—one life ending on the street, the other slipping away at the hospital—underscored how little distance there can be between a conflict and a double death.
