In the late afternoon hours of September 23, 2018, tragedy struck on Swan Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, forever altering the lives of a local family. On that day, 18-year-old Jaquincy Jawan Ross, an African American male, was found with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response of law enforcement, Ross was pronounced dead at the scene, his life cut short just yards away from where his stepfather had been shot the previous year.
