On the evening of October 16th, Stan Riley, a 37-year-old male, and Amanda Authement, a 34-year-old female, were found deceased inside their apartment at 4708 Tigerland Avenue. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in what authorities would classify as a double homicide.
The motive behind the violent act was not immediately clear to investigators who began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the couple's demise.

On October 22, 2019, authorities apprehended 21-year-old Tyrese Magee, booking him on the charge of principal to first-degree murder. His arrest was reportedly aided by an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers. The following day, the investigation led to the arrests of two more individuals: 17-year-old Cedric Turner and a 15-year-old male juvenile. Turner faced a charge of first-degree murder, while the juvenile was booked on the charge of principal to first-degree murder. Despite the arrests, detectives believed others may have been involved and continued their investigation.
