Wayde Sims, a 20-year-old African American male and a member of the LSU Men's Basketball team, tragically lost his life on September 28, 2018, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident occurred near Southern University's A.W. Mumford Stadium during homecoming festivities. Sims was fatally shot in the head and neck during a confrontation. The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
