In the summer of 2019, a life was tragically cut short in Ruston, Louisiana. On Thursday, July 11, Tyrea Davis, a 24-year-old male, was shot in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue. Davis, who was living in Ruston but was originally from Bastrop, was transported to a local hospital following the shooting, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the death of Tyrea Davis led to a swift arrest.
Ruston Police identified 21-year-old Jerome Jackson as the suspect in the fatal shooting. Jackson was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree murder. While an arrest was made, law enforcement officials did not publicly release a motive for the shooting that ended Davis's life.
