Dondrick Wilson Sr., 32, a Black man, was killed in the early-morning hours of July 27, 2019, after gunfire erupted at a Marrero apartment complex in the 2800 block of Mt. Kennedy Drive. The 911 center received a report of shots in the area around 1:50 a.m., and as a Jefferson Parish deputy drove through the complex looking for the source of the call, people gathered on a balcony flagged him down and directed him toward the victim.
