In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Lafayette, Louisiana, John Lee Hickenbottom, a 41-year-old male, was fatally shot multiple times. The incident occurred on January 29, 2020, in the 100 block of Edwis Street, right in front of his own home. Hickenbottom had stepped outside to intervene in and de-escalate a disturbance that was taking place. His attempt to quell the altercation tragically ended with him becoming a victim of gun violence.
