On December 31, 2023, around 1:10 a.m., an incident in a parking lot in the 500 block of Jefferson Street in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana, resulted in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Justin Broussard from Arnaudville, LA. The Lafayette Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and found Broussard on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
