A tragic incident in Lafayette, Louisiana, on December 10, 2018, claimed the life of 68-year-old Larry James Chiasson. On that Monday, Mr. Chiasson was the driver of a truck when a firearm was unintentionally discharged by a passenger, leading to a fatal crash.
The passenger was identified as 18-year-old Dawson Mullen. According to Lafayette police, the accidental firing of the weapon by Mullen resulted in Chiasson being struck. This caused the vehicle to crash, and Mr.
Chiasson died at the scene. An eyewitness reported seeing the truck coming from a sidewalk near a Shell Station and then proceeding across traffic.
Following the incident, Dawson Mullen was arrested and faced a charge of negligent homicide in connection with the death of Larry Chiasson.
