In the Gert Town neighborhood of New Orleans, on the afternoon of June 15, 2020, the life of 18-year-old Messiah Thompson was tragically cut short. An African American male, Thompson was discovered outside a building in the 8300 block of Palm Street at approximately 4:36 p.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
