In the afternoon hours of November 23, 2022, a sense of holiday anticipation in New Orleans was shattered by an act of violence. Ervin Walker Jr., a 31-year-old male, found his life abruptly ended by a gunshot wound. The incident unfolded in the 2200 block of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, where police responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 3:47 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Walker unresponsive inside a vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The New Orleans Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. In the course of their inquiries, detectives obtained surveillance footage from the area that captured a person of interest. The individual, believed to be a suspect in the case, was seen walking in the vicinity shortly after the homicide occurred. Authorities released a description of this individual, noting that the person was wearing black pants, a black t-shirt, black shoes, and a head covering.
Despite the release of the suspect's description and the ongoing investigation, there have been no public announcements regarding an arrest in connection with the murder of Ervin Walker Jr. The case remains an open and active investigation as law enforcement continues to seek information from the public to bring closure to the family of the victim and hold the person responsible for his death accountable.
