In the early morning hours of March 17, 2017, the life of Verrick Bills, a 37-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in New Orleans. Emergency responders were called to the 3400 block of Kabel Drive in the Algiers neighborhood around 5:37 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Bills unresponsive, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The New Orleans Police Department's Fourth District officers secured the area and began their investigation into the homicide. As detectives delved into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, they identified a person of interest they believed might hold crucial information about the case. This individual was named as Curtis Delmore Jr.
Authorities publicly announced their interest in speaking with Delmore, clarifying that he was not wanted in connection with the incident at that time.
