In the dark hours of October 1, 2020, the quiet along Wall Boulevard in Algiers was broken by gunfire. When New Orleans police arrived near the intersection with Cypress Acres Drive around 2:19 a.m., they found Hakeen Jones, 39, a man, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
