Benjamin Hurks, a 35-year-old African American male from Eunice, Louisiana, tragically lost his life on September 8, 2020. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on S. Beulah Street, where Hurks was found slumped over on a sofa bed with a gunshot wound to the head. The Eunice Police Department responded to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. and discovered Hurks' brother, Jonah Gobert, 29, also present and visibly distressed. Gobert was taken into custody at the scene.
