Brooklyn DeShauna Smith, a 20-year-old Black trans woman, was tragically found dead on October 7, 2020, in her apartment in Shreveport, Louisiana. The cause of death was a gunshot wound. Brooklyn was born and raised in Shreveport and had studied cosmetology at Bossier Parish Community College. She had worked as a call center agent and was known for her vibrant personality and positive social media presence. Brooklyn had just celebrated her 20th birthday on September 20, 2020, with loved ones.
