In the late morning of February 11, 2021, the life of 31-year-old Dakayla Bailey was tragically cut short in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Around 10:30 a.m., law enforcement responded to a call on Plank Road, near Cannon Street, where they discovered Bailey had been fatally shot. The incident, which occurred at a mobile home park, prompted an investigation by Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives.

The investigation into Bailey's death progressed, and a significant development came just over a week later. On February 19, 2021, police arrested 27-year-old Terica Scott in connection with the killing. Authorities stated that a crucial anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers played a vital role in identifying and locating Scott. She was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Following her arrest, Terica Scott faced charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon for her alleged involvement in Dakayla Bailey's death. A grand jury later indicted Scott on the second-degree murder charge. However, despite the indictment, Terica Scott was never tried or convicted for the murder of Dakayla Bailey. The case reflects a somber chapter in the city's history, leaving a family to mourn the loss of a loved one whose alleged killer did not face a trial for her death.
