Fate Vincent Winslow, a 53-year-old Black man from Shreveport, Louisiana, was fatally shot on May 4, 2021. Winslow had recently been released from a life sentence in prison under Louisiana’s Habitual Offender Law, after serving 12 years for a $20 marijuana sale. His release came in December 2020 following a change in Louisiana drug laws and efforts by the Innocence Project New Orleans to secure a fair trial.
