In the winter of 2016, the life of 55-year-old Bryan Savage was brought to a violent and tragic end in Shreveport, Louisiana. On the evening of February 22nd, firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the 8900 block of Woolworth Road. Inside the home, they made a grim discovery: the body of Bryan Savage. As authorities investigated further, it became clear that the fire was not the cause of his death.
An autopsy would later reveal that Savage had died from blunt force trauma to the head; he had also sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. The case was quickly classified as a homicide.
The investigation into Savage's murder moved swiftly. Within a day, Shreveport Police had identified and located two suspects at a hotel in the western part of the city. Amanda B. Williams, 28, and Cameron Lewis, 27, were taken into custody. Investigators found them in possession of a white Chevrolet Avalanche that was linked to the homicide. The connection between Williams and Savage soon became clear; she had previously been employed as a caregiver for Savage's elderly father at the Woolworth Road residence.
As the details of the crime came to light, a harrowing story of a home invasion turned deadly emerged. Williams and Lewis had allegedly broken into Savage's home armed with two small-caliber firearms. They proceeded to ransack the house, stealing televisions, a cell phone, jewelry, money, and a work truck. When Savage confronted them during the burglary, he was shot. According to a confession from Williams, she and Lewis continued to search the home for valuables while Savage lay dying. In an attempt to destroy evidence of their crime, they set the house on fire before fleeing. The stolen truck was later seen on casino surveillance footage, where cameras also captured the pair dividing the stolen items. Both Williams and Lewis were subsequently charged in connection with the brutal murder and arson.
