In the early morning hours of October 7, 2021, the life of 40-year-old Jonathan Bellot, a male resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. Responding to reports of a shooting just after 4:40 a.m. in the 400 block of Ockley Drive, Shreveport Police officers discovered Bellot suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Despite immediate attention, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department.
As officers arrived, they witnessed a male fleeing
the area, prompting a swift pursuit. With the assistance of a Shreveport Police K9 unit, law enforcement was able to apprehend the fleeing individual, later identified as Marshall Adkins. Following an investigation by the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units, which included interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, an arrest warrant was secured for Adkins.
Marshall Adkins was subsequently charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder in connection with Jonathan Bellot's death. After being interviewed by investigators, he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. The case against Adkins represents the next chapter in the search for justice for Bellot and his loved ones, following the violent events of that October morning.
