In the early morning hours of November 4, 2021, a grim discovery was made in a home in Shreveport, Louisiana's Cedar Grove neighborhood. Inside, lay the bodies of 12-year-old Xavier Perry, his mother Adriana Perry Rigsby, age 28, and his uncle Joshua Perry, age 18. All three had been shot and killed in what was quickly determined to be a triple homicide.
The young male victim, Xavier, was just a boy with his whole life ahead of him.
The investigation almost immediately focused on one man, Barry Rigsby, the husband of Adriana and stepfather of Xavier. Authorities began a widespread search for Rigsby, who had fled the scene. A few hours after the bodies were found, Rigsby's vehicle was located roughly 150 miles away from Shreveport, parked near an apartment complex in the town of Wisner, Louisiana.
As Franklin Parish sheriff's deputies began evacuating the apartment complex for safety, Rigsby opened fire from one of the apartments, turning the search for a murder suspect into a tense standoff. Louisiana State Police were called to the scene to assist. As troopers systematically cleared the apartments, they encountered the armed suspect. In the ensuing confrontation, Barry Rigsby was shot and killed by law enforcement, bringing a violent end to the tragic case.
