On a Saturday afternoon in Capitol Heights, Maryland, the life of 28-year-old Curtis Lee Edwards Jr. of Suitland was tragically cut short. On January 16, 2021, at approximately 12:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike. Upon arrival, officers discovered Edwards inside a car, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The violent encounter also left two other men wounded, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening. The investigation into the shooting suggested the incident stemmed from an argument. It was revealed that the suspect and the victims were known to each other. During the altercation, the suspect was also shot.
In connection with the fatal shooting of Curtis Lee Edwards Jr., police arrested 36-year-old Jason Fogle of District Heights. After being treated at a hospital for his injuries, Fogle was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections. He was subsequently charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as attempted first and second-degree murder for the shooting of the second victim.
