On January 14, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in a vacant lot in the 800 block of Wall Street. Upon arrival, they found 26-year-old Hortencia Leshay Demming with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after.
