A tragic story unfolded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on the afternoon of December 3, 2021, when 41-year-old Lance Earl Robertson, a Black male, lost his life to gun violence. The fatal incident took place around 4:43 p.m. in the 1800 block of Spanish Town Road, where Robertson was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
The Baton Rouge Police Department's homicide detectives immediately launched an investigation into the shooting death of Robertson.
Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect.
Just four days later, on December 7, 2021, authorities arrested 38-year-old Luke Simmons in connection with the killing. Simmons was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He faces charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon for his alleged role in the death of Lance Robertson.
