J’Veon Jones, age 19, male, Black/African American, was fatally shot on the night of July 22, 2025. Shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to the Gates Mills Place Apartments on Mayfield Road in Mayfield Heights, where they found J’Veon Jones, age 19, male, lifeless in a fourth-floor hallway. Witnesses told investigators they had heard an argument echoing through the corridor, then the sharp report of gunfire, and when the noise fell away only silence remained around his body.
