Lehemiah LeMarcus Simon, a 7-year-old African American boy from Jeanerette, Louisiana, tragically passed away on December 22, 2021. Lehemiah was accidentally shot in the head by his 15-year-old cousin while they were both sitting in a car. The incident occurred on Main Street in Jeanerette, a close-knit community that was deeply affected by the loss. Lehemiah was airlifted to Our Lady of Lourdes Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, where he was pronounced dead.
