The perpetrators of this crime were Girvies L. Davis and Richard 'Ricky' Holman, who were involved in a series of violent crimes in Illinois between 1978 and 1979. They were nicknamed 'The .22 Caliber Killers' due to their use of .22 caliber firearms in multiple murders.
Their victims primarily included elderly individuals targeted during robberies.
Following their arrest, both Davis and Holman were convicted of multiple murders, including that of Frank Cash. Davis was sentenced to death and was executed by lethal injection on May 17, 1995. Holman, who was under 18 at the time of the crimes, was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, as he was ineligible for the death penalty due to his age.
