In the quiet evening hours of December 22, 2025, the life of 34-year-old Anthony Brian Thomas of Jeanerette, Louisiana, was tragically cut short by gun violence in New Iberia. The incident unfolded in the 500 block of Johnston Street, where a spray of bullets shattered the neighborhood's calm.
Officers from the New Iberia Police Department rushed to the area of South Hopkins and Johnston streets shortly after 7:30 p.m. following multiple reports of shots being fired.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Thomas lying in the roadway, having succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
