In the late morning of December 23, 2021, a dispute over money between cousins in Shreveport, Louisiana, ended in tragedy. Twenty-year-old Katrayvon B. Hill was shot multiple times outside a convenience store in the Allendale neighborhood. The incident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue. First responders found Hill on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to Ochsner University for medical treatment, where he was pronounced dead a short time
later.
Investigators from the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Units responded to the scene. Through witness interviews and a review of video surveillance, they learned that Katrayvon B. Hill and his 29-year-old cousin, Armand Burgy, had been involved in an argument. The dispute, which was over money, escalated to the point where both men were armed. Burgy reportedly left the scene only to return a short time later and shoot Hill multiple times.
Following the shooting, Armand Burgy fled the scene but was apprehended by patrol officers shortly after. He was taken to the Shreveport Police Complex for questioning. Based on their investigation, detectives obtained a warrant and charged Burgy with one count of second-degree murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000. In addition to the murder charge, Burgy also faced several other charges from a prior, unrelated domestic incident, including second-degree robbery, convicted felon with a firearm, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, obstruction of justice, and domestic abuse battery strangulation. He was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
