In the summer of 2016, the life of 42-year-old Drexel Platt, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On the evening of Saturday, June 4th, Platt was at an auto shop on North Foster Drive when a shooting incident unfolded. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man present at the auto shop, identified as Boo Milton, was also struck by the gunfire.
Milton was shot in the arm and subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. He survived the attack. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators with the Baton Rouge Police Department began their inquiry into the violent event.
Despite their efforts, law enforcement officials were initially unable to identify a motive for the shooting or any potential suspects. The case was left with more questions than answers, and the investigation into who was responsible for Drexel Platt's death was ongoing. At the time, authorities urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in the investigation.
