Xamien Davis, a 39-year-old Black man and a father, was a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana. He was remembered by his family as a devoted father to his daughter, and they organized a homegoing celebration to honor his memory after his sudden death.
On the evening of August 4, 2023, Shreveport police were called to the Residences at SpringRidge apartment complex on West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop for reports of a domestic disturbance.
Shortly after 11 p.m., officers arrived to find Xamien Davis with a single gunshot wound to his head. He was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to the wound the following afternoon, on August 5, 2023. His death marked the 50th homicide in Shreveport that year.
The investigation into the shooting quickly focused on Davis’s on-and-off dating partner of several years, Carlisia Manshan Clark. Evidence presented at trial would later establish that during an argument, Clark retrieved a 9mm handgun from a bedroom closet and shot Davis on the right side of his head as he was trying to leave her apartment. Investigators determined that Clark had fired six rounds in total; one bullet traveled through a wall in her children's bedroom and into a neighboring apartment.
Clark was arrested and charged in connection with Davis’s death. She faced a bench trial before Caddo District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. Prosecutors presented physical evidence that included shell casings, the weapon used in the shooting, and projectile defects throughout the apartment. The court also heard testimony from law enforcement officers, a crime scene investigator, a forensic medical examiner, and a 911 operator. In reaching his verdict, Judge Mosely cited the autopsy findings and the 911 recording as particularly significant.
In May 2026, Judge Mosely found Carlisia Clark guilty of manslaughter. On June 10, 2026, a sentencing hearing was held where the court heard a victim impact statement from Davis’s sister, as well as testimony on Clark’s behalf from her family and a friend. Clark was sentenced to 15 years in prison at hard labor, with credit for time served. The case was closed as of June 2026.
