In a tragic and violent encounter on February 18, 2022, Jermond Lamar Houston, a 25-year-old male, lost his life in Shreveport, Louisiana. The fatal incident unfolded inside a Shell gas station on West 70th Street. Houston was at the counter making a purchase when he was approached by Noel Deon Garner.
Surveillance footage from the store captured the harrowing moments that followed.
Garner, a 30-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, reached into Houston's right pocket and removed a 9mm handgun that was equipped with an extended clip. As Houston realized what was happening, he attempted to flee the store. However, Garner opened fire, striking Houston in the back and causing him to fall to the ground. Garner then proceeded to shoot Houston multiple times. In total, Jermond Houston was shot 26 times.
Following an investigation into the deadly shooting, Noel Deon Garner was arrested and charged with the murder of Jermond Houston. The case proceeded to trial, where the evidence against Garner was presented. Ultimately, Garner was found guilty of the murder. In a court proceeding in June 2025, a judge sentenced Noel Deon Garner to life in prison for the murder of Jermond Lamar Houston.
