Both Herbert and the driver were rushed to a local hospital, but Herbert ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The second victim's condition was not publicly detailed.

Ms. Hebert stated that she possessed information that could potentially generate new leads and lead to an arrest, but her attempts to share this with investigators had been met with silence. Describing her son as a 'God-fearing young man' who was on his way to work at the time of the shooting, she emphasized that he was not involved in any street rivalries. As of that time, no arrests had been made, and the case remained unsolved, leaving a grieving mother to continue her plea for justice for her son.
