Derrick Smith, a 16-year-old African American male from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, tragically lost his life on February 13, 2019. Derrick, affectionately known as 'Doodie,' was riding his bicycle along Gus Young Avenue on a Wednesday afternoon when he was shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries three days later at a local hospital.
