Thomas T. Wood, a 37-year-old white male police officer, tragically lost his life on October 23, 2006, in Maywood, Illinois. Officer Wood was on duty, sitting in his police cruiser with his canine partner at the intersection of Erie Street and 6th Avenue, when he was shot multiple times. Despite being rushed to Loyola University Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries approximately 45 minutes later. His canine partner was unharmed in the incident.
