On March 16, 2014, 25-year-old Demaree D. Tetter, a Black male from Danville, Illinois, was fatally shot outside Club Deuce, located at 623 N. Vermilion St. He was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center's emergency room. Born on July 1, 1988, in Danville to James E. Coleman and Donnetta L. Tetter, Demaree had been a local resident throughout his life.
