Roosevelt Anderson Jr., a 25-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on April 24, 2019, in Danville, Illinois. Anderson was found lying in the roadway on the 900 block of Redden Court, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The investigation into Anderson's death led to the arrest of Percy Freeman, a 26-year-old male from Phoenix, Illinois. Freeman was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery along a public way. Despite not being the individual who pulled the trigger, Freeman's involvement in the attack was significant enough to warrant these charges. He pleaded not guilty, and his bond was set at $5 million. The prosecution argued that Freeman's participation in the gang-related attack at the Fair Oaks Housing Complex was instrumental in Anderson's death.

Aldridge was found guilty of first-degree murder in October 2023 and was sentenced to 85 years in prison. The sentence included 80 years for the murder and an additional five years for possession of a weapon by a felon. The prosecution presented video surveillance footage from the Vermilion County Housing Authority, which captured the brutal attack. Aldridge and other individuals tracked Anderson through the housing complex before Aldridge used a handgun to bludgeon and ultimately shoot Anderson in the head.
The legal proceedings also involved other suspects. Tavares Mitchell and Tariq Wilson, who were initially implicated in the attack, were acquitted during separate trials. The case was prosecuted by the Illinois Attorney General's office in collaboration with the Vermilion County State's Attorney's office.
