Christopher Allen Lloyd, a 45-year-old African American man from Gary, Indiana, was tragically killed on May 17, 2016, during an armed robbery at a Boost Mobile store in South Holland, Illinois. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when two brothers, Floyd Bell, 24, and DeAngelo Parker, 27, attempted to rob the store. Parker entered the store wearing a mask and carrying a gun, while Bell acted as the getaway driver. During the robbery, Parker took money from the register and ordered the clerk and several customers to the back of the store to open the safe. It was at this moment that Lloyd, who was present in the store, attempted to disarm Parker. Unfortunately, Parker shot Lloyd before fleeing the scene.
Lloyd was immediately taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where he was pronounced dead at 2:46 p.m. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed his death. Following the incident, Parker was found hiding behind a Dumpster a short distance from the store. Police recovered the gun and a sweatshirt from the Dumpster and found bloodstains on Parker's clothing. Bell was apprehended the next day after being spotted driving away from the scene in a white vehicle. Both brothers were charged with first-degree murder. Parker was held without bond, while Bell's bond was set at $750,000.
The case against the brothers proceeded in court, with both admitting to their roles in the robbery and the shooting. Parker confessed to carrying out the robbery and shooting Lloyd, while Bell admitted to planning the robbery and serving as the getaway driver. The legal proceedings continued, with both brothers scheduled to appear in court on June 8, 2016.
