Sergio Varela, a 42-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on June 19, 2015, in South Holland, Illinois. Varela, who was working as an electrician, was rehabbing a vacant home near East 157th and State streets when the incident occurred. Around noon, three men approached the construction site and inquired if any help was needed. When they were told no, the men forced their way into the home.
