On January 24, 2019, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Champaign Police responded to a shooting incident in the 800 block of Fairoaks Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Dehrone Hobbs, an African American male, unresponsive inside a private residence. Hobbs was suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and was immediately transported to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
