On July 13, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred in the 1700 block of S. State Street in Champaign, Illinois. Champaign Police were dispatched at 7:39 p.m. in response to a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Jahiem M. Law from Champaign with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound, as well as a 21-year-old female victim from Champaign with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
