Tyevell Marquise Qualls, an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on January 2, 2020, in Chicago, IL. The incident occurred in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. According to reports, Qualls was struck by gunfire in the leg, wrist, and neck around 6:15 p.m. in the first block of East 83rd Street. He was immediately taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy confirmed that Qualls died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The investigation into Qualls' death was undertaken by Area South detectives. However, there have been no reports of any arrests, suspects, or litigations related to his murder.
