Demauryon V. Smith, a 16-year-old African American male from Belleville, Illinois, tragically lost his life on June 24, 2020. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM when police responded to reports of shots fired in the 6300 block of West Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers found Demauryon suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was initially transported to Belleville Memorial Hospital and subsequently airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he succumbed to his injuries
