Lester, 17, from Belleville, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Nolan R. Birge, 18, from O'Fallon, Illinois, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery. Tarik M. Horton, 19, from Belleville, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted aggravated robbery. Lastly, Marquis C. Triplette, 16, also from Belleville, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery.
The suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident, with two arrests made on the following Friday and the remaining four suspects arrested on Saturday.
