Marcus Jones, a 24-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on July 23, 2021, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in a vacant lot located in the 4000 block of West Monroe Street. According to reports, Marcus Jones heard gunshots and felt pain before realizing he had been struck. He sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and leg and was subsequently transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
