Mauriceo Ashford, a 29-year-old African American man, was fatally shot on June 9, 2019, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. According to reports, Ashford was standing on a sidewalk in the 5400 block of South Marshfield Avenue around 10:20 p.m. when someone in a vehicle opened fire.
